Beyond Transition: Building Secure, Resilient, Inclusive, and Intelligent Energy Systems
8-11 June 2026 | ADB Headquarters, Manila
As we conclude the ACEF 2026 discussions, this plenary aims to focus on moving beyond the concept of "transition" towards a permanent state of sustainable pathways that prioritize energy diversity, inclusive economic growth, and the long-term integration of innovative technologies.
To move beyond the 2030 time-bound energy transition narrative, the region's focus shifted to the creation of long-lasting, high-performance interconnected energy systems. In a globally shifting world, the goal is to build adaptable energy systems that can withstand continual global shifts. Success of moving beyond the energy transition will be measured by the expansion of industrial capacity that creates sustainable pathways to inclusive economic growth and the improvement of lives across the region.
Achieving sustainability and inclusive growth long-term requires an expansive perspective on how energy assets and risks are managed and valued. That perspective calls for an augmentation in planning that goes beyond individual projects to secure resilient integrated energy systems across the region. Through diversification, interconnection, and innovative technologies, sustainable pathways to energy security are forged.
The ACEF 2026 closing plenary called on participants to move from dialogue to building sustainable pathways in their national budgets and regional agreements, to solidify regional commitment to sustainable pathways that move beyond short-term fixes, focusing instead on long-term energy diversity and the scaling of innovative technologies. The session concluded with a unified vision for inclusive economic growth, where resilient energy infrastructure serves as the foundation for delivering industrial soundness and social equity. Participants left with strategic ideas for delivering measurable impact, ensuring that Asia and the Pacific remain a high-growth, sustainable region.
