Thematic Track Session 1.3 (Technological Innovation)

Advancements in Renewable Technologies

Thursday, 5 June 2025

9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (GMT +8)

Technological innovation is playing a pivotal role in accelerating the clean energy transition. Breakthroughs in solar, wind, hydropower, and energy storage are improving the performance, reliability, and scalability of renewable energy systems across the region. However, challenges such as technical limitations, high costs, and fragmented regulatory environments continue to slow widespread deployment. This session will explore how public-private partnerships, targeted research and development, and innovative policy mechanisms can overcome these barriers and fast-track renewable energy adoption.

Participants will learn about diverse innovations shaping the region’s energy future—from India’s evolving approach to compressed biogas and ASEAN’s efforts to improve regional grid flexibility, to regulatory solutions for recycling solar PV waste in support of a circular economy. The session will also examine how artificial intelligence is being leveraged to optimize clean energy systems, enhance predictive maintenance, and drive smarter grid integration—demonstrating the transformative potential of digital technologies in accelerating renewable energy deployment.
