Sadie Cox is a Senior Analyst in the Markets & Policy Group of the Strategic Energy Analysis Center at NREL. Sadie’s areas of expertise include renewable energy policy and strategy design and good practices, advancing technical solutions for resilient power systems, and assessing development impacts of clean energy and climate actions. Sadie is also a technical lead on the USAID-NREL Partnership for various technical toolkit platforms, including the Renewable Energy Data Explorer, the Resilience Energy Platform, and International Jobs and Economic Development Impacts (I-JEDI) Model.

Sadie Cox is the Director of Strategic International Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory. In this role, Sadie leads and works collaboratively with the science and technology directorates at NREL to strategically develop and execute on NREL’s international partnership development strategy and vision with a focus on bringing together the world-class knowledge, unique capabilities, and signature facilities at NREL to benefit a diverse set of international partners. Sadie also manages NREL’s strategic USAID-NREL Partnership with a team of thought leaders at USAID, NREL and across other U.S. laboratories advancing clean energy development around the world. Sadie’s career started in NREL’s Strategic Energy Analysis Center where she spent 14 years developing strategic partnerships and managing and conceptualizing key elements of several large-scale international programs focused on global clean energy transformation – LEDS Global Partnership (now the Global Climate Action Partnership), Global Power System Transformation (G-PST) Consortium, Women in Power System Transformation, Net Zero World, and the USAID-NREL Partnership. She has also been a thought leader for several USAID-NREL country-specific and analytic efforts focused on high-resolution, renewable energy data development, economic impact analysis, and resilience planning. Sadie’s areas of expertise and interest include multi-partner clean energy program design, gender equality in the energy sector, renewable energy policy and strategy design and good practices, data-driven decision-making frameworks, and multi-criteria impact assessment for clean energy and climate actions.

Sajid is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and a Senior Financial Management Specialist at ADB. Sajid has over 20 years of experience in governance and finance. He has extensive experience of contributing to the development of the energy sector in various countries. His experience includes sectoral and organizational level policy reforms, development of financial restructuring plans to enhance sustainability of energy sector, designing financial management systems, creation of enabling environment for private sector investments, and privatization of state-owned enterprises.

I received the B. Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from university of Moratuwa in 2001, and the M.Sc. and PhD degrees in decentralized power generation systems from Royal institute of technology Sweden and the Melbourne University in 2004 and 2013 respectively. He has well over 13 years of national and international experience in design and installation of solid fuel power plants, boilers (utility/package) and heat exchangers. Currently he is serving as a senior lecture at University of Moratuwa, he was a visiting lecturer and research fellow at Deakin University Australia.

Samantha Hung is the Chief of Gender Equality Thematic Group at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) where she provides leadership for advancing gender equality across all aspects of ADB operations and knowledge work. Samantha has over two decades of experience in gender equality at project, program and policy levels in the Asia Pacific. Before joining ADB in 2009, she held various gender specialist roles, including for the New Zealand Agency for International Development, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, UNICEF, Australian Government Office on the Status of Women and UK Institute of Development Studies attached to the University of Sussex. Samantha is a dual Australian/UK citizen. She holds a Masters degree in International Development from RMIT University in Melbourne, Honors Law and Commerce degrees from the University of Melbourne, and a post-graduate degree in Human Resources Management from CIPD, UK.

Samantha is also a seasoned provider of management support, including for an ADB Vice President and the Director General of Budget and Human Resources, and was previously the Deputy Representative of ADB’s European Representative Office. She started her international development career as a Australian-funded volunteer in Vietnam.

Samantha is a dual Australian/UK citizen. She holds a Masters in International Development from RMIT University in Melbourne, Honors Law and Commerce degrees from the University of Melbourne, and a post-graduate qualification in Human Resources Management from CIPD, UK.

Spearheading a project aimed at launching a new climate finance initiatives focussed on Asia.

Dr. Samir Thapa is working as a Research Associate with the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) program, at Loughborough University, UK, and is a Fellow with the School of Management and Marketing, Charles Sturt University, Australia. Within MECS, Dr. Thapa is part of the Finance team and researches the potential of outcome/impact financing (e.g., carbon and health) MECS vis a vis the wider financing eco-system. Dr. Thapa is currently involved in 1) understanding the value chain impacts of cooking fuel and technologies and the cost-efficient way e.g., digital monitoring to introduce and streamline those impacts e.g., PM2.5 vs BC in the carbon/outcome methodologies. With CSU, Dr. Thapa is working on two projects – in Nepal. The first project studies leveraging carbon finance to enhance mainstream commercial financing and the second project analyses the influence of purchase subsidies on the market competition - for clean cooking promotion.

Mr. Tumiwa is Advisor, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department and Chief of the Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations team at the Asian Development Bank. He joined ADB in 2001 as a Renewable Energy Specialist and held several positions in the energy sector leading policy dialogue with the governments, managing project design, and overseeing implementation, especially in renewable energy and energy efficiency, throughout South and Central Asia. Most notably Mr. Tumiwa developed ADB’s clean energy program, access to energy program and established the Clean Energy Financing Partnership Facility. Mr. Tumiwa also served and the Deputy Representative for North America in Washington, D.C. from 2011-2016 and as ADB’s Country Director in Afghanistan from 2017-2019.

Prior to ADB, he worked in a design engineering firm in Washington, D.C. where he worked on development projects, developed strategic partnerships and identified business opportunities that helped bring in new contracts from private sector clients and international donor agencies.

Mr. Tumiwa is an Indonesian national. He has over 30 years of professional experience in international development and strategic partnerships, including over 20 years in ADB
