Bio

Eng. Sanath Kithsiri, a graduate of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering with a second class lower division. He furthered his education at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering. His career began at the National Engineering Research & Development Centre in Sri Lanka, where he served as a Mechanical Engineer. Currently, he holds the position of Director for the Industrial & Services Sectors at the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority. Additionally, he is recognized as one of the Accredited Energy Auditors and Certified Measurement and Verification Professionals (CMVP) in Sri Lanka.

Sandhya Sundararagavan is the Lead on the Energy Transitions Team at World Resource Institute where she works on developing and supporting progressive policies, technical solutions and strategies for sustainable clean energy transformation.

Prior to this, she worked with Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), Center for Study of Science, Technology & Policy (CSTEP), The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) in various capacities. She led several power sector programs focusing on renewable grid integration, power sector planning, electricity market reforms and modelling efforts, and supported electricity sector stakeholders extensively at both national and state level. Sandhya holds an MS from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA and a Mechanical Engineering degree from Pune.

Sandra Lindström is Head of International Climate Cooperation at the Swedish Energy Agency. She has over twenty years of experience in international climate policy and carbon markets and currently leads the Swedish Energy Agency’s work on developing new international climate cooperation and climate finance programs. Previously, Sandra worked at the World Bank and Asian Development Bank where she worked with development of global partnerships for climate mitigation actions. She also served as a Swedish negotiator to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and was a member of the EU Presidency team responsible for negotiating matters related to further commitments for Annex 1 Parties under the Kyoto Protocol. Sandra holds a M. Sc in economics from School of Economics and Commercial Law, Gothenburg University.

Sang-il Kim has more than 17 years of experience in business development, sales & marketing, and project execution in petrochemical sector and power generation sector. He is currently GM and Head of Sales & Marketing Team I at CARBONCO Pte. Ltd., a project development company especially in decarbonization business and a wholly owned company by DL E&C, and is responsible for seeking business opportunity with global partners (i.e. Major Oil & Gas companies, Power/Industrial Plant Owners, Local Government) to integrate and enhance value chain of CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) business. He is also responsible for Green and Blue Hydrogen and Ammonia Business. Kim is graduated of Korea University with Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and has served as Static Equipment Design Engineer, Project Control Manager, and Sales & Marketing Manager of CCUS business in DL E&C till DL E&C incorporate CARBCONCO and dispatch him to CARBONCO as General Manager.

Dr. Sang-Hoon Lee is President and Chief Executive Officer of Korea Energy Agency since January 2022. Korea Energy Agency is a governmental institute established in 1980 with a mandate to promote energy efficiency and conservation for rational use of energy, deploy renewable energy and other high-level technologies to help reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to international actions to cope with climate change. Prior to this position, Dr. Lee was Executive Director of New and Renewable Energy Center of Korea Energy Agency. In his professional career that spans over three decades, Dr. Lee has established his reputation in the areas of renewable energy, climate change, and environmental protection by holding key positions in several civil society organizations, public institutes, and academia including Director of Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, Vice President of Korean Society for New and Renewable Energy, Director of Green Energy Strategy Institute, and Director of Climate Change Center of Sejong University. He also served as a member of the Korean Presidential Committee of Green Growth during 2018-2019. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration in Climate Change Policy from Sejong University in Korea, a M.A. in Environmental Planning and a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from Seoul National University in Korea.

Mr. Sanjay Dube is the President and CEO of IIEC with over 36 years of experience working in clean energy, energy efficiency and clean transport sectors. Mr. Dube's dynamic portfolio consists of working with donors and international agencies including ADB, World Bank, USAID, SDC, UNEP, UNDP, DFID and others. Mr. Dube has received his M. Tech. in 'Soil and Water Conservation Engineering' from GB Pant University, India and completed a Certificate Course on 'Energy Planning and the Environment' from University of Oslo, Norway.

Dr. Sardar Mohazzam, is the Managing Director of NEECA, Ministry of Energy (Power Division). He holds Ph.D. in Public Policy in the area Energy and Environmental Policy on Fulbright scholarship. He has served as Advisor with public sector, academia, and international development partners. He has led the MIT Climate Co-lab Initiative on Energy Water Nexus. He is proactively involved in restructuring and institutionalization of Energy Efficiency as well as Climate Change mitigation (NDCs) at national and provincial level.

Sarocha (Sacha) is a climate finance specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). She covers multiple sustainable transport projects in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Sacha has been involved in several transactions, including the financing of Thailand's first commercial-scale electric ferries, a certified climate loan to invest in a comprehensive electric vehicle charging station network in Thailand, and the financing of Viet Nam's first fully-electric public transport bus fleet and national EV charging network. Sacha holds a master's degree in Finance and Investments from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.

Sascha Oppowa is a dedicated professional serving as the Project Director for "Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia" (CASE), a comprehensive program spanning seven years. The CASE program focuses on facilitating the energy transition in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Having joined GIZ in 2014, Sascha Oppowa possesses a wealth of experience in sustainable energy and climate change policies. In 2015 and 2016, with initial focus on the international climate regime, he was an integral part of the German Delegation to the UNFCCC conferences. From 2017 to 2020, Sascha played a pivotal role in supporting the Government of Vietnam in implementing the Paris Agreement. He was primarily responsible for the development of bankable sustainable energy project ideas, contributing to the country's efforts in achieving its climate goals. With his expertise and commitment to sustainable energy, Sascha Oppowa continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of clean, affordable, and secure energy solutions in Southeast Asia.
