Collaborative Pathways for Asia's Clean Energy Future: Modeling, Resilience, and Security

Choices in Asia's energy landscape are increasingly complex and required careful coordination to balance growing energy demand, supply vulnerabilities, and the vital push for cleaner systems. This transition created both urgent challenges and significant socio-economic opportunities across countries. Forward-looking energy modeling and scenario analysis revealed the profound benefits of cross-country collaboration in employing scaled solutions for local contexts.

The session presented insights and practical examples of cross-country energy sector collaboration in Asia, developed as part of the COMMITTED project. From a modeling perspective, best-practice approaches were shared and options for stronger model-policy interaction were explored to ensure effective implementation. The session explored the potential for deeper future collaboration across three key areas: water-energy linkages, critical minerals for the clean energy transition, and regional grid development. The session closed with a panel on model-policy exchange, and research needs to employ more effective regional and global collaboration.
