Beyond Transition: Building Secure, Resilient, Inclusive, and Intelligent Energy Systems
8-11 June 2026 | ADB Headquarters, Manila
Concentration risk in fuel types, generation assets, and grid architecture is a central vulnerability of energy systems across Asia. This session explores how diversification at multiple levels—from national generation mixes to community-level distributed energy resources—can reduce exposure to system-wide disruptions.
Presenters will examine how electric vehicles can serve as grid assets through vehicle-grid integration, delivering measurable value in residential and commercial fleet applications including electric bus depots; the role of utility companies in decarbonising building stock as part of a broader energy diversification strategy; and the hard lessons learned from Sri Lanka's February 2025 national blackout, in which rooftop solar disconnections and insufficient frequency response were identified as primary causes—offering critical guidance for grid operators managing high shares of distributed generation.
