Bio
Umid Mamadaminov Mahmudovich is the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a senior government executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience across energy, infrastructure, industrial development, and investment promotion. He has played a key role in advancing Uzbekistan’s clean energy transition, including the development of a 20+ GW renewable energy pipeline and large-scale grid modernization initiatives.
He oversees national reforms related to power generation, renewable energy integration, transmission and distribution modernization, energy efficiency, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). He also leads coordination with international financial institutions including the World Bank, ADB, AIIB, and EBRD, and represents Uzbekistan in high-level international energy negotiations and forums.
Prior to his current role, he served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and founded several private-sector enterprises focused on energy consulting and export-oriented agro-processing. Earlier in his career, he worked at Stantec in the United States as an electrical systems designer specializing in power systems for hospitals, high-rise buildings, and data centers.
Mr. Mamadaminov holds a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering from the Oregon Institute of Technology and graduate and undergraduate degrees in Industrial Electronics from Tashkent State Technical University. He is fluent in Uzbek, English, and Turkish, with professional working proficiency in Russian.
