Joel Abraham was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) in September 2016. Mr. Abraham has extensive business and public sector experience. Immediately prior to his appointment to the FCCC, he was a Regulatory, Compliance, Finance and Business Advisor in various capacities in Australia, Fiji and Tonga both in the public and private sector. Mr. Abraham was also a Deputy CEO, Manager Compliance, Senior Research Fellow at the former Fiji Commerce Commission / Prices and Incomes Board. Prior to this he was with Price Waterhouse Coopers. Mr. Abraham holds two Masters and three Post graduate qualifications along with his initial Degree in Commerce. His expertise range from Accounting, Economics, Finance, Financial management, Public Law, International Relations to Climate change. He also is a member of CPA Australia, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Chartered Accountant. In addition, Mr Abraham is a Director of the FNPF Hotels Portfolio and Fiji Meat Industries Board.

Mr. Abraham's dedication to consumer welfare is evident through his remarkable work in advocating for consumer rights and protections. His leadership at FCCC has been marked by a proactive approach to addressing consumer concerns, ensuring transparency in business transactions, and enhancing consumer education. Under his guidance, the FCCC has launched impactful initiatives to empower consumers with information, enabling them to make informed choices and safeguarding their interests in the marketplace.

Dr. John Beirne joined the Asian Development Bank Institute as a Research Fellow in March 2019. Dr. Beirne’s research interests are centered on international finance and macroeconomics. Previously, he worked at the European Central Bank for over ten years mainly on research and analysis of global financial markets, commodities, financial stability, and global governance issues. He has also worked for a shorter period at the IMF, in academia, and as an economic consultant in the private sector. John’s recent research has examined the drivers of private investment in renewable energy in Asia, and the implications of climate change for macrofinancial stability (including a co-authored book entitled ‘Climate Change and Sovereign Risk’, which was published in October 2020). John has published over 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of International Money and Finance, Economic Modelling, Review of International Economics, Emerging Markets Review, and China Economic Review. He holds a PhD in Economics from Brunel University in the United Kingdom.

John Beirne is Vice-Chair of Research and a Senior Research Fellow at the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI). In this role, he co-heads ADBI’s Research Department, leading research workstreams on macroeconomics, finance, and infrastructure. He was previously a research fellow at the ADBI and before that, he spent over a decade in Germany as an economist at the European Central Bank (ECB), mainly in the areas of international policy analysis and economic research on global financial markets, capital flows, and commodities. He has also worked as an economist in the private sector and in academia. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals in economics and finance, co-authored or coedited several ADBI books, and serves as an editorial board member of the Asian Development Review. He holds a PhD in Economics from Brunel University, UK.

John is Chief Risk Officer & General Counsel at Export Finance Australia where he has responsibility for the Risk, Legal and Operations function of the organisation. He also has responsibility for managing governance and regulatory compliance for the Export Finance Australia Board.

John has over 20 years’ experience as a senior executive and lawyer, focussed primarily in the finance and corporate sectors. Prior to joining Export Finance Australia, John held various senior executive positions at Westpac, Goodman Group and National Australia Bank in Sydney, London and New York, where he advised on a broad range transactional and corporate matters, including major financings, capital raisings and domestic and cross broader governance, regulatory and compliance issues.

Mark is the President and Founder of Solar Hope, an NGO that aims to provide solar and sustainable solutions to marginalized communities in the Philippines. He is also working as an Engineer in NGCP as his day job to support his daily living and the NGO. He have been involved in NGO work for more than 9 years and his expertise is in the field of Rural Electrification, Renewable Energy and Community Development. He is also a Climate Reality Leader, an advocate and an inspirational speaker. His life mission is to give hope and light to the lives and houses of peoples. He is a beacon of hope!

Dr. John Murton is the UK government’s COP26 Envoy.

John was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo from 2017 to 2019. Prior to this role, he was Deputy High Commissioner at the British High Commission in Nairobi and also served as the UK’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Kenya from April 2013 to August 2017.

Previously the UK’s High Commissioner to Mauritius and Ambassador to Madagascar, John has considerable professional experience in East and Southern Africa, having worked in Zimbabwe and researched his Ph.D. in Kenya, as well as having conducted research in Turkana.

John has previously served in Japan, at NATO Headquarters, and at the UK’s Foreign Ministry in London. His most recent role prior to Nairobi was as Head of the Foreign Ministry department dealing with the UK’s relations with East and South East Asia and Australasia.

John Cotton is the Senior Programme Manager for Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). He has been based in Southeast Asia for 20 years, dedicating a decade of which to renewable energy project development and climate change mitigation efforts. John has worked across a gamut of private and public sector roles, ranging from Chief Administrative Officer for a Thai EPC in the transmission and distribution sector, Managing Director of a pan-Asia engineering consultancy, and working in the Southeast Asia COP unit at the FCDO in the build up to COP26. With ETP, John is primarily responsible the design and implementation of programmes aimed at expediting the energy transition across Southeast Asia in accordance with the ETP Secretariat mandate and strategy.

Jon Canto is the Managing Partner of McKinsey Philippines. He has about 15 years of experience working across Asia Pacific and the United States. He specializes in corporate strategy and performance transformations, having led large-scale transformations across Asia. His background is in energy (Power, Oil & Gas) and infrastructure (Transportation, Logistics).

Jonathan is the Group Chief Finance Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of ACEN. He is a lawyer and banker with over 25 years of experience in the legal, investment banking, and private investment sectors with significant experience in equity capital markets, corporate finance, and in advising on large infrastructure, power, and telecom projects. Jonathan was previously a director and the executive chairman of BPI International Finance Ltd., the Hong Kong banking subsidiary of BPI and concurrently, co-head of Wealth Management and head of international businesses of BPI. He was also a director of Schools Relief Initiative Ltd., a Hong Kong-based charity supporting education in Southern Sri Lanka. Previously, Jonathan served as an executive director in Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong (Corporate Finance and Equity Capital Markets) and managing director and head of Asian Equity Capital Markets in JP Morgan, Hong Kong. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Civil Laws degree from the University of Oxford, where he graduated with first-class honors. He also received first-class honors in the solicitors final exam.
