Bio

Mr Jinmiao Xu is an energy specialist with more than 15 years of experience in energy field. He works in energy sector group of sustainable development and climate change of ADB and responsible for (i) contribute to ADB’s energy sector quality-at-entry and innovations, focusing on renewable energy and conventional clean energy power generation including cutting edge technology, system integration technologies and energy policy; (ii) provide technical advice and support to lending and non-lending operations in the regional departments; (iii) process and administer regional technical assistance; (iv) contribute to the formulation and implementation for regional cooperation and integration; (v) conduct knowledge work.

Prior to ADB, he had abundant working experience on leading R&D projects, designing and managing thermal power plant mechanical engineering. His expertise includes domestic and global energy and environmental technologies, policies, and programs.

Mr. Xu received BS (2005) in Environmental Engineering from North China Electric Power University, and MS (2011) in Thermal Engineering from the Tsinghua University. He has more than 15 published academic papers, 2 authorized patents and 2 ministerial awards.

Jinsun Lim is Energy and Environment Policy Analyst of the International Energy Agency (IEA). She leads the IEA work on climate resilience for energy security. She is working on assessing climate risks and impacts on energy systems; identifying effective resilience measures for different stakeholders; and developing policy recommendations for decision-makers. Prior to joining the IEA, she worked at IRENA and SEforALL, and served as a climate negotiator representing the Republic of Korea

Jione Jung is a senior research fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy. Since joining KIEP in 2006, she has conducted many policy analyses related to international development cooperation issues and Korea's ODA policy. She participated in the UNFCCC negotiations as an advisor for the Korean government. The main area of focus was climate finance. She is interested in climate change and international development cooperation, particularly how to mobilize private resources and the role of the public sector.

Jiten Ghelani is CEO at Promethean Power Systems, a pioneer in enabling access to sustainable cold chain in the world’s most challenging conditions. He holds an MBA from Emory University and a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan. Jiten previously led successful consulting projects in growth strategy and performance improvement for large Fortune 50 and small startup clients at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He has over 15 years of experience leading companies and business units ranging in size from $1M to $30M.

Jiwan Acharya is working in Energy Division of South Asia Department of ADB as Principal Energy Specialist. He currently focuses on developing and implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy and other broader energy sector projects in India and Nepal. He is also serving as focal person for Regional Cooperation and Integration for Energy in South Asia. He is a key member of ADB's Energy Sector Group and Climate Change Team and was responsible for overseeing ADB's several key initiatives including Energy for All, and Low Carbon Technology Transfer, among others. Mr. Acharya served as ADB’s focal point for Clean Technical Fund (CTF) and Scaling Up Renewable Energy for Low Income Countries (SREP) under the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) and Sustainable Energy for All Initiative (SE4All). Mr. Acharya, a Nepalese national, has a MA in Economics, MSc in Energy Systems and Management and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

He is also serving as focal person for Regional Cooperation and Integration for Energy in South Asia. Prior to that, he was with Energy Sector Group Secretariat in the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department of ADB since 1 October 2006 as Senior Energy Specialist. He is a key member of ADB's Energy Sector Group and Climate Change Team and was responsible for overseeing ADB's several key initiatives including Energy for All, and Low Carbon Technology Transfer, among others. Mr. Acharya served as ADB’s focal point for Clean Technical Fund (CTF) and Scaling Up Renewable Energy for Low Income Countries (SREP) under the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) as well as Sustainable Energy for All Initiative (SE4All).

Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Acharya was Senior Research Officer in Winrock International in Kathmandu, Nepal covering climate change, carbon financing, energy access and broader clean energy areas.

Mr. Acharya, who is a Nepalese national, has a Master of Arts in Economics, Master of Science in Energy Systems and Management and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Jiwan has worked in the Sector Advisory Service Division in ADB’s Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department since 2006. He is a key member of ADB's Climate Change and Clean Energy Team, responsible for overseeing initiatives including Energy for All, Low Carbon Technology Transfer, and the Technical Support Facility under the Carbon Market Program. Mr. Acharya spearheads the Energy for All Partnership, which targets providing energy access to 100 million people by 2015. He is the focal point for the Clean Technology Fund and the Scaling Up Renewable Energy for Low Income Countries program under the Climate Investment Funds.

Jiyoung An is an associate research fellow working at the Korea Energy Economics Institute. She received her bachelor's degrees in international studies and business administration and master's and doctoral degrees in economics. Since she obtained her Ph.D., she has been working at the public economic research institute. Currently, she is on the hydrogen economy research team of the Korea energy economics institute, where she conducts research related to Korea's hydrogen economy policy.

João Aleluia is an Energy Specialist working with the Asian Development Bank’s Southeast Asia Regional Department. João has over 15 years of experience in the fields of sustainable energy, climate change and waste management, having worked with international organizations such as the UNFCCC and UN-ESCAP. Prior to joining ADB, João was the regional technical advisor of the UNFCCC on carbon pricing instruments and market-based mechanisms for Asia-Pacific. João has also worked for several years in the private sector, first as a management consultant with Arthur D. Little, and later as the managing director of a Beijing-based start-up company developing greenhouse gas emission reduction projects in China. João holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy Systems (MIT Portugal Program, 2018), a Master’s in Energy Management (ESCP-EAP Paris, 2008), and an MSc in Engineering and Industrial Management (University of Lisbon, 2004).
